My visions without color now, just shades of black and grey
The answers come in riddle form, there is no other way
Too many years of push and pull, I’ve toiled from dawn to dusk
The work is long, the pay is short, the metal turns to rust
But I know…there is no other way for me…
I know…here comes another day to see…
I know…that love is found between the black and grey
I’ve wanted you, yes longed for you, too safely from afar
The color’s coming back to me, from somewhere where you are
The night is cool it steadies you, the darkness doesn’t sway
It feeds the needs of both of us, until another day
But I know…there is no other way for me…
I know…here comes another day to see…
I know…that love is found between the black and grey
When you challenged eye to eye, I turned the other way
Your honesty was hard to take, that’s all that I can say
But who am I and who are you, the lessons we have learned
So I turn left and you turn right, yes once too often burned
But I know…there is no other way for me…
I know…here comes another day to see…
I know…that love is found between the black and grey
The difference between living well, and living not to die
Is slight enough you catch it from the corner of your eye
We parse the code of friendship now by touching in the night
The subtleties of love are found with little sense of sight
But I know…there is no other way for me…
I know…here comes another day to see…
I know…that love is found between the black and grey
